Established under the NECU Act (Act No. 4 of 2023) by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, North East Christian University (NECU) is a distinguished institution under the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI). Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f), NECU is accredited as a Personnel Certifying Body (PrCB) for Traditional Community Healthcare Providers (TCHPs) by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) under ISO/IEC 17024:2012. It holds further recognition from the Quality Council of India, the Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA) of THSTI under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, for Good Clinical Practices certification, and is a proud member of PHDCCI, New Delhi (est. 1905).

NECU’s expansive 250-acre campus at Medziphema Village, provided by the Government of Nagaland, complements its City Centre in Dimapur, acquired through the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). Rooted in the rich legacy of Baptist missions—beginning with schools in Assam and the Khasi Hills in the 1820s and 1830s, and reignited by CBCNEI seminary principals’ vision in 2010—NECU synthesizes moral values with sciences to foster critical thinking, innovative programs, and research opportunities.
